Owner Joe Schaefer opened Moose Country in 1984 as Pony’s. Schaefer has owned and operated 6 bars and restaurants in the Twin Cities since 1973 and currently owns the Moose Country and the Wild Onion in St. Paul.

The concept has always been the same; great casual dining, happy hours, fun sports atmosphere and D.J. at night with top 40 dancing along with retro.

The Moose has been very successful accomplishing this wide appeal for several years in the small community of Lilydale on the bank of the Mississippi River.

We pride ourselves on having a busy happy hour, full dining and then a line to get in for dancing later in the night. The combination of a great location and aggressive management has also been key to our success. Our Mission is to blend all this activity to appeal to wide variety of ages. Not many other bar and restaurants do what we do.

We have a lodge type atmosphere with 2 levels, a huge deck and games such as darts, pool and others. 1000 square foot dance floor and seating for 230 indoors and 80 outside.
